HISTORY

The Rockland Pregnancy Counseling Center, now known as the, Care Net Pregnancy Center of Rockland was established in 1986 to provide an alternative to abortion in Rockland County, where there were 2 abortions for every live birth. In the fall of 1986 a part-time Director was hired and the first volunteers were trained. The center had limited operating hours and was located in West Nyack NY in an office of about 750 square feet. But in those early years many women were given the option to carry their babies to term with the compassionate counsel of well train volunteers and materials resources that would make their decision easier.

In 2003 we launched our first client website. Through the years, many transitions and much growth took place. Our clients have changed and for most of them "motherhood" is not part of their vocabulary and abortion is usually their first option.

Our staff and volunteers increased and our operating hours increased for 15 to 32 per week. Now located at 2 Perlman Drive in Spring Valley, NY, this building is well know and strategically located at the intersections of Route 59, New Clarkstown Road and the New York Thruway. Our client numbers continue to grow now that we are located on the lower level of a medical/professional building 3,000 square feet of office space in the heart of Rockland County.

In 2007 we began offering limited ultrasound services to our clients. This provides a window to the womb and an important tool in the educational process that we provide for our clients.

Our Center is roomy enough to house our staff offices, and lots space for clients to comfortably meet with their Client Advocates and waiting room for clients and their partners. Our volunteer staff includes one male counselor.
